Badrinath Dham Opening & Closing Date

Badrinath Dham, one of the most sacred Hindu shrines and a key part of the Char Dham Yatra, will open its gates for devotees on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 6:00 AM. The opening date was officially announced on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami by the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, as per traditional Vedic calculations and nakshatra placements.

As every year, the shrine will reopen after remaining closed throughout the harsh winter months due to heavy snowfall in the region. The temple remains accessible only for around six to seven months, typically from May to November.

The exact closing date of Badrinath Dham will be declared on Vijayadashami (Dussehra), which falls in October 2025. However, the temple usually closes after Bhai Dooj, depending on weather conditions and astrological timings.

Badrinath Dham holds immense religious and spiritual value in Hinduism. Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, it is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Lord Badrinarayan. It is believed that a visit to this holy shrine helps wash away sins and brings one closer to moksha (liberation).

Every year, lakhs of pilgrims and tourists from across India and abroad visit Badrinath Dham as part of the Char Dham Yatra – along with Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
